Adam Willaerts – Antwerp/London, 1577 – 1664

Adam Willaerts (1577 – 1664) was a painter from the southern Netherlands. His parents lived in Antwerp. Adam was born in London. In his paintings he focused on sea paintings and beach views with a balanced relationship between foreground, center plan and background. His compositions in Flemish style are narrative and imaginative and generally follow the traditional painting layout.
