Early Whaling Compass in a binnacle of lime-wood, 18th century

Well preserved 18th century whalingcompass with attractive handmade 32-point rose. On the rose, north with fleur de lis. The inside of the lid is marked with a 5. Binnacle and lid are painted deep blue, nearly black. The inside of the binnacle is painted greywhite with lubber’s line.
