Nautical instruments

Graphometer – Jean Francois Richer, Paris, 18th century

Solid, but simple angle meter of brass in the original case, baize-covered inside. On this early instrument the compass is not yet fixed to the instrument. In the lid written with pencil, but barely legible: Arsenal with address and the year 1846. In the case a little box with flap for tools and separate compass.
Richer had a workshop in Paris from 1743 until 1820.
All his instuments he simply signed, Richer à Paris.
