Early semi gimbaled dry card Compass – Harri, Amsterdam, ca. 1840

Attractive and well preserved Dutch dry card whaling compass made by Harri, compass maker in Amsterdam. With hand-painted 32-point rose in black and white. North with fleur de lis. The compass is at that time delivered with removable bottom.

L.J. Harri sr. and jr. were compass makers in Amsterdam at the Oude Teertuinen from 1832 – 1872.
