Here you will find rare and unique models and diorama’s from before 1900. Representatives of the former kings of the sea. Made by sailors and master model makers. All these models have been build in hundreds of hours and with great patience by fans of the majestic look of old sailing ships.
Nice and original half hull model of a frigate. Made with fine craftmanship of mahogany. The stern with the Amsterdam arm indicates that it is a Dutch ship. On the stern are also to be seen traces of old layers of paint with red and gold.

A fine and early 19th century Napoleontic French prisoner-of-war bone and baleen ship model of a fully rigged 110 gun war ship. With fine planked and pinned hull, open gun ports with brass guns, deck features and fittings including casks, capstans etcetera, bound masts, standing and running rigging with bone blocks.

In many seafaring nations ship models hang in churches. This is also the case in the Netherlands. They may have metaphorical significance. Determining position and setting course is important not only at sea, but also in normal life.
This carrack is an not seaworthy fantasy model. It would immediately capsize upon launch. The two suspension eyes in the masts are clearly visible. The carrying yoke is of a later date. The sails are made of canvas.

A small and very attractive presented waterline model of a brigantine in a decorative wooden showcase with colonnades turned like mooring cables. Made around 1890. With nice details as a tiller and bone mastheads. Rigging complete and in good condition. The block model hull is made of limetree.

Diorama in a display case with a square rigged man of war with 92 guns, an unarmed square rigged merchant man and a sailing fisherman. All three carry the English flag. The sea shows windforce six, there is only little sail. On deck and in the masts there are dozens of tin, painted mariners. The guns are shown. As you can see, a sea battle is taken into account.
Made with very fine craftmanship and sensitive painted.

The Lucania has been build together with her sister ship Campania (1892) by Fairfield Shipbuilding Company at Glasgow fort he Cunard Steamship Company. With two of the earliest three-stage expansion sets as main engines, the ships were intended to realise the leading position in the transatlantic service. Both liners were very succesful and showed advances in size, speed, number of passengers carried and excelence of accomodation.
Length 620 feet, average speed 23,2 knots.
The Lucania was destroyed by fire in Liverpool in 1910.

The Vrouwe Ina is a particularly attractive blockmodel made in 1838. All parts are made very detailed. A golden ‘mastwortel’ on top of the mast. Chimney on the foredeck. Full rigged mast, lee-boards, big rudder, pick-hook, two punting-poles and so on. The original sails are in very good condition. The planked hatch can be removed to vieuw the inside of the hull. The name of the maker and the year of fabrication is written on the inside of the hatch.

The Petronella is a very fine seaman made model of a seagoing spritsail barge, made in 1843. All parts are nice detailed, with anchorwinch (braadspit) and two barrels on the foredeck. Full rigged mast, lee-boards, big rudder, two pick-hooks, ladder, table in the cabin and so on. The planked hatch can be removed to vieuw the inside the hold with timber.
With original sails in good condition.
Practically the same model can be seen in the Fries Scheepvaart Museum.
