Interesting Table Globe of paper mache – P. Lapie/Lorrain, Paris ca. 1840

A very well preserved French paper mache globe designed by P. Lapie (1779-1850), made by Lorrain and Bastien Aine in Paris around 1840. Even the hour ring is present. Antarctica has only been sparsely discovered.
The globe is mounted on a single pedestal of blackened beech wood. The horizon ring, armature and meridian ring are all made of cardboard. On the carrying arms the large places on earth are indicated with length and latitude position.
