Satchel with Sailing Barge – Friesland, Netherlands, 19th century

In Holland wooden satchels are in use ever since the 16th century to put away slate, chalk and sponge. This one of the 19th century is coming from Joure in Friesland. The chest is marbled green on a cream background. The slide-lid is painted with a sailing-barge in cream and black flowers. Mention the position of the flag.
